Project week
Introduction
Spring or autumn in the woods, time to add to the facilities offered by a the wood. Plenty of hard work, variable weather, but lots of interesting projects good food and company.
This year, 2008 -
- Constructing a tree bog - a compost toilet in the trees and a swing bridge to reach it.
- Building a log cabin tool store with turf roof.
- Building miner's tents to improve the accommodation for the courses.
- Finishing off the new area of coppice and anything else we can think of!
Come for an day or the week, but book in has we need to know how many to cater for. Children up to 12 years of age free. Camping free.
Helpers will have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities or concentrate on a particular skill
Skills introduced
- Use of a wide variety of hand tools to carry out woodland maintenance and building tasks.
- Building woodland structures using a variety of traditional techniques.
- The art of mixing and using cob.
- Introduction to the permaculture principles on which the Cherry Wood Project is based.
