Intermediate Green Woodwork. (6 days)
A course for those with a little woodworking experience. Students will be able to tackle a more complex project.
Skills introduced:
- Selection of timber
- Safe use of hand tools
- Safe use of green woodwork tools
- Cleaving and side axe
- Use of the froe
- Draw knife and shave-horse
- Use of adze, travisher and inshave
- Simple steam-bending
- Preparation and use of elm bark
- Practical sharpening
Additional skills:
- Cooking over an open fire
- Use of an earth oven
Project:
- Turned and / or drawn side-chair with a solid or woven seat.
